Project Data Quality Objectives <br /> The data quality objectives for the Plan are described in the following sections. <br /> Objectives and Problem Definition <br /> The data collected under this Plan will be used to evaluate the concentrations of COCs in stockpiles located <br /> at the Butala facility, and only from material that was produced on-site and not imported from an off-site <br /> source. The laboratory measured COC concentrations will be compared against residential screening levels <br /> (RSLs) that were approved by EPA and CDPHE (the Agencies) as part of the VDR Soil Sampling and Analysis <br /> Plan. If a cancer risk RSL is not provided, the most <br /> conservative/lowest non-cancer child index concentration was used. <br /> MDL =Minimum detection limit <br /> RDL =Reliable detection limit <br /> Data Quality Objectives (DQOs) <br /> Data Quality Objectives (DQOs) are statements that define the type, quality, quantity, purpose, and use of <br /> data to be collected. <br /> The overall decision to be made based on the results of the Plan is to evaluate the existing sampleable stockpiles <br /> of material that has been mined, screened and/or crushed, and prepared for sale on-site. Material that was <br /> mined, processed, and hauled/transported to the site from an off-site source will not be sampled. This import <br /> material will be assumed to be non-impacted. On-site produced material will be considered non-impacted if <br /> the PAH and PCP concentrations are below the RSLs. Material containing a COC in excess of an RSL will be <br /> considered impacted. <br /> The main input to the decision is the accurate characterization of COCs in sampleable stockpiled material. <br /> Sampleable stockpiled material is defined as sand and gravel products that are of the appropriate gradation to <br /> collect a representative sample in four-ounce wide mouth glass sample jars.These materials are further defined <br /> later in this document.
