2.7.7 Pre-minin¢ Conditions - Alluvial Valley F1 <br />This section addresses potential alluvial valley floors (AVFs) that could <br />be affected by the Trapper Mine as required by the Surface Mining Control <br />and Reclamation Act of 1977 and the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclam- <br />ation Act of 1979. <br />The review encompasses three general areas; the Williams Fork River, the <br />Yampa River and upland drainages that drain from the mine plan area to the <br />Yampa River. <br />A preliminary report assessing the potential for AVFs to be affected by <br />Trapper Mine was prepared and submitted to the Region V office of the <br />Office of Surface Mining and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />in May, 1980 (McBride and Krishmamurthi, 1980). A copy of this report is <br />included as Appendix H. On May 7, 1980, representatives of Utah International, <br />Inc. (Utah), the Office of Surface Mining and the Colorado Mine Land Rec- <br />lamation Division met to review the findings of that report. The meeting <br />participants concluded that it is unlikely that impacts will accrue to <br />alluvial aquifers associated with the Williams Fork or Yampa Rivers as a <br />result of operations at the Trapper Mine. <br />The discussion of the potential AVF sites will therefore be mainly on the <br />drainages in the mine plan area with limited discussion on the Williams <br />Fork and Yampa alluvial systems. <br /> <br />2-531
