RECEIVED
Rifle Gravel Pit#1 IJUL 19 2023 July 2023
Colorado Division of Reclamation,
8.0 Exhibit G — Water Information Mining and Saftey
Figure 17, Exhibit G depicts the rivers, creeks, water courses, and ditches on the site and
adjacent lands.
Use of wet mining techniques in the highly permeable aggregate deposit underlying the Rifle
Pit will minimize affects to local groundwater and surface water. In essence, the shallow
groundwater currently underlying the site will be exposed as the surface of the excavated
pond, but the volume and direction of flows will not be altered.
8.1.1.1 Water—General Requirements
Scott will minimize disturbances, to the extent practicable, to the prevailing hydrologic
balance of the Affected Lands and of the surrounding area and to the quantity or quality of
water in surface and groundwater systems both during and after the mining operation and
during reclamation by:
• Complying with applicable Colorado water laws and regulations governing injury to
existing water rights.
• Compliance with applicable federal and Colorado water quality laws and regulations,
including statewide water quality standards and site-specific classifications and
standards adopted by the Water Quality Control Commission.
• Compliance with applicable federal and Colorado dredge and fill requirements.
• Removing temporary or large siltation structures from drainage ways after disturbed
areas are revegetated and stabilized, as required by the Reclamation Plan.
• No earth dams will be constructed to impound water.
• All surface areas of the Affected Lands, including spoils piles stockpiled for more
than 180 days, will be stabilized and protected so as to effectively control erosion.
• Scott has installed piezometers to monitor the groundwater levels on the parcel and
can provide that data upon request. Note the one on the east side of the property will
be removed during mining.
8.1.1.2 Groundwater—Specific Requirements
• Scott will not be discharging to groundwater nor surface waters.
• Scott will not have an in-situ leach mining operation.
• Scott has installed piezometers to monitor the groundwater levels on the parcel and
can provide that data upon request.
See Section 8 and Figure 17, Exhibit G for more information regarding water.
47
