Essentially, when mined below the groundwater table, the aggregate already has a 4%by
weight moisture content. The moisture content is not changed by the process of washing. The
entire 4%by weight moisture content is then lost with the mined aggregate.
The narrative in Exhibit G has been updated to include this explanation. No amendments to
Exhibit G, Table 3 are necessary.
Figure 1:Excerpt from SEO Gravel Pit Guidelines
13. Water consumption by the mining operation(including associated well structures)including,
but not limited to,dust control, water removed with the mined product, water used for
concrete hatching, and reclamation irrigation must also be determined. The matrix below
specifies the percent of product mined which is considered water weight. All water diverted
from the pit shall be measured. All diversions, including water for dust control and irrigation
for vegetation establishment, shall be considered 100 percent consumptive unless the applicant
can document otherwise.
Not Washed Washed
Material mined above the Material has 2°o moisture Amer washing, the material
ground water table content, but 00%is charged has a 4%moisture content
because the moisture is not a (saturated),but 2%is
ground water diversion charged because only 2%is
from the soil profile and the
other 2%is from ground
water used for washing
Material mined below the Material has 4%moisture After washing, material has
ground water table content(saturated),and 41 o 4%moisture content
is charged because all of the (saturated),and 4%o is
water is a ground water charged because that entire
diversion 4%is a ground water
diversion
Material mined below the Material has 2°o moisture After washing, material has
ground water table,but in a content,and 2"b is charged 4%moisture content
dewatered state because the moisture is from (saturated),and 4%is
a ground water diversion charged because that entire
4"%is a ground water
diversion
:Vote:the percentages are hr weight
27.
