LONDON MINE
M-2023-015
Exhibit U—Rule 6.4.21
Environmental Protection Plan
The proposed operation was determined to possibly constitute a Designated Mining Operation (DMO),
and as such, would require an Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) in addition to the Mining Plan and
Reclamation Plan. Portions of this Rule pertaining to subjects not applicable to this site or operation will
not be included in this plan.
(1)(a)
The determination was made based on the fact that the operation will handle mineralized pre-mined
waste rock, which, potentially being toxic or acid-forming materials, exposes the site to these materials
during mining or reclamation. (See definition in Rule 1.1(1).)
(1)(c)
There is no uranium, and there will be no acid mine drainage or designated chemicals at this site.
(1)(e)
There are currently impoundments, waste rock piles and other material stockpiles. The proposed mining
and reclamation plans will create a site which provides net improvement to human health, property and
the environment.
(2)
The mining and reclamation maps in Exhibit E contain the information required for the EPP maps under
this rule. All applicable items, areas and features referred to in this EPP are shown on the maps.
(4)
Please see the list of other required permits and licenses contained in Exhibit F.
(6)
The procedures for disposal, detoxification and stabilization of toxic or acid-forming materials, the
adequate reclamation practices, measures to prevent releases to the environment, and prevent
discharges of acid mine drainage are all described in Exhibits C and D.
The waste rock materials to be handled in this operation have been analyzed;the nature and constituent
concentrations were considered in formulating the mining plan. The waste rock currently resides in a dry
location, will be sorted as dry material, and once sorted, depending on resultant levels of mineralization,
will be either exported from the site or disposed of onsite as dry material. No solutions will be created.
The sorting process will dramatically reduce the level of metals and mineralization of the material, as
well as the volume of the material,to be disposed of onsite. Sample analysis of the waste rock can be
found below.
(7)
