<br /> <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br /> <br /> <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety proposes to approve Technical Revision <br />Application No. 159 (TR-159) for the Colowyo Coal Mine (Permit No. C-1981-019), submitted by <br />Colowyo Coal Company L.P.. TR-159 proposes access roads in the East Pit reclamation areas to <br />construct sediment ponds and manage post mine channels and stock ponds. TR-159 also includes <br />disturbance acres for a borrow area directly north of the Section 3 Ponds locations to facilitate <br />construction of both ponds this summer, and TR-159 proposes to revised Reach 1 of the Final East <br />Pit Ditch from a nonerobile channel to a riprap lined channel. <br /> <br />The Colowyo Coal Mine is a/an surface coal mine located in Moffat, Rio Blanco County, <br />approximately 28 miles S of Craig, Colorado. Coal interest is federal, state and private, and the <br />surface affected is federal, state and private land. The permit area encompasses approximately <br />26,173.14 acres. <br /> <br />This proposed decision is based on a finding of whether the proposed operation will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., <br />C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder. <br /> <br />The revision application, as well as all other permit documents, can be viewed at <br />https://dnrweblink.state.co.us/drms/search.aspx by searching C1981019 in the “Permit No” field. <br />A user guide is available to help first time users of the imaged document system and can be viewed <br />at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l8OUdf_Mpjo3kxIHkP5hMH-w7MeBtxX7/view. <br /> <br />Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a <br />formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision.
