[he surface layer is brown fine sandy loam about 2 inches thick. The <br />substratum is light yellowish brown very gravelly sandy loam about 8 <br />inches thick. A lithic contact of fractured sandstone occurs at a depth <br />of 10 inches. <br />Permeability of the Starman soil is moderate. Available water <br />capacity is Low. Effective rooting depth is 10 inches. Runoff is med- <br />ium and hazard of erosion by both water and wind is slight. <br />This map unit is used for wildlife habitat and watershed. <br />This map unit provides a fair source of topsoil to an average depth <br />of 10'lnches. A high coarse fragment content, clayey textures and firm <br />moist consistencies in subsurface horizons are the main limiting fac- <br />tors. <br /> <br /> <br />2-315 <br />
