s <br />30b-Busby Variant fine sandy loam, 10 to 29 percent slopes. This <br />moderately deep well drained soil is on ridgetops and bedrock-controlled <br />benches. It formed in residuum and from colluvium derived from <br />sandstone. Slopes are plane to slightly concave. Areas are irregular <br />in shape and are 1 to 10 acres in size. The vegetation is mainly shrubs <br />and fortis. filevation ranges from 6400 to 6950 feet. The average annual <br />precipitation is about 14 inches and the mean annual air temperature <br />is about 42°F. <br />Typically the surface is light brownish gray fine sandy loam about <br />5 inches thick. The subsoil is yellowish brown very fine sandy loam <br /> about 7 inches thick. The substratum is yellowish brown very fine <br />. sandy loam about 8 inches thick which is underlain by a paralithic <br /> contact of highly weathered sandstone at a depth of 27 inches. <br />Included in mapping this unit are 15 percent Rentsac Variant, <br />Rentsac moderately deep Variant and Rentsac deep Variant soils. Also <br />included is about 5 percent coarse-loamy, mixed Aridic Haploborolls <br />of map unit 41. <br />Permeability of this soil is moderate as is available water <br />capacity. Effective rooting depth is 27 inches. Runoff is medium <br />and hazard of erosion by water is slight to moderate and moderate for <br />wind. <br />This unit is used for wildlife and watershed. <br />The soils of this map unit provide a good source of topsoil to <br />an average depth of 15 inches. The structureless infertile substratum <br />. layers below this depth is not suitable for use as a topdressing material. <br />2-308 <br />
