<br />z <br />FORELLE SERIES <br />The Forelle series consists of deep well drained soils formed <br />in alluvium derived from sandstone and shale with a component of aeolian <br />material. They are located in upland basins, valley sideslopes and <br />gently rolling uplands and have slopes of 0 to 29 percent. <br />Forelle soils are similar to Cushool Variant and Savage soils. <br />Cushool Variant soils are 20 to 40 inches deep and Savage soils have <br />mollic epipedons. Both have fine control section textures. They occur <br />near Savage, Rentsac deep Variant, Coberly Variant, and coarse-loamy mixed <br />Aridic Haploborolls of map unit 41. <br />Soils of the Forelle series are fine-loamy, mixed Borollic <br />. Haplargids. <br />Typical pedon of Forelle loam, 14 percent slope is Located <br />within 411,000N, 1,414,000E and 414,000N 1,418,000E. <br />Ap--O to 9 inches; brown (lOYR 4/3) Loam, dark brown (lOYR 3/3) <br />moist massive; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; <br />common medium roots; many fine interstitial pores; neutral; clear smooth <br />boundary. <br />B2t--9 to 22 inches; brown (lOYR 4/3) clay loam, yellowish brown <br />(lOYR 5/4) moist; moderate medium angular blocky structure; hard, firm, <br />sticky and plastic; common fine tubular pores; many moderately thick <br />clay films occur on ped faces; mildly alkaline; abrupt smooth boundary. <br /> <br /> <br />2-207 <br />
