EXHIBIT G—WATER INFORMATION
(1) The operation will not impact the groundwater system as mining will remain an
estimated 70 to 170-feet above the underlying groundwater. No chemicals are used
on site and stormwater is controlled to prevent ponding that could contribute to
groundwater recharge in the immediate mining area. The mining area is specifically
designed to either avoid disturbing the small, unmapped, ephemeral gullies or in the
case of the stormwater discharge point on the west boundary, the headlands of this
natural drainage will be eliminated during mining operations
(2) Effect of surface or groundwater system
(a) Exhibit C map shows the location of The Big Timber Creek with ephemeral natural
drainageways on the site and adjacent to the permit boundaries. The area to be
mined is essential high ground and natural drainage is away from the area to be
mined. These drainages will not be substantially impacted before, during or after
mining is complete. There are no wells, springs, stock water ponds, reservoirs, and
ditches on the affected land and on adjacent lands that will be affected by the
proposed mining operations.
(b) There are no aquifers on or near the mining site, so this information is unnecessary.
(c) There will be no need for groundwater dewatering operations since all mining
activities are well above the underlying groundwater. The mining area is designed
such that all precipitation over the mined area is directed to the natural drainage in
the boundary for off-site discharge.
Stormwater accumulation in the mining area is not expected to occur other than very
temporarily in small, localized areas. If stormwater accumulation warrants, the
stormwater will be pumped out onto other areas within the mining limits where it can
be directed to the site discharge. Cheyenne County is a very dry and and climate and
the need to ever pump stormwater out of the mining area is highly unlikely. Berms
may or can be built to assist in the prevention of stormwater accumulation.
(3) No anticipated water requirements are expected.
(4) Dust control would be the sole use of water for this project in the event it is needed.
Cheyenne County will haul a water source and the equipment as needed to fulfill this
requirement if it is needed.
(5) A National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)permit form the Water
Quality Control Division at the Colorado Department of Health will not be necessary.
Cheyenne County will apply for a Colorado Discharge Permit, only if required, prior
to initiating construction activities.
G-1
