Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
I object to this application based on the potential threats posed to the safety and health of the people and
environment of Lake County if the project goes forward.Objections include the following:
1.The use of cyanide in processing tailings: Cyanide spills and leaks can contaminate water and destroy
aquatic life. The people in the area become at risk due to the contaminated water. The community could end up
paying in health and even their lives for the short term economic advantages of cyanide mining.
2.Cyanide and other chemicals can not be secured within a reasonable confidence level to avoid leakage in
the proposed dry stack method of storage.
3.The risk of leakage of cynaide and other chemicals into groundwater presents an unsustainable risk to
irrigation water, nearby wells for human consumption and to the fishing/rafting industry.
4.The extreme adverse impact to Lake County residents including visitors and tourists, and nearby counties
due to leakage of toxic substances via air and/or water.
5.The potential destruction of wildlife habitats and the death of fish and animals in Lake County and beyond
throughout the length of the Arkansas River.
6.The creation of airborne toxic particulates(fugitive dust)as tailings are transported from teh East side of the
Leadville to the Mill site.
7.The overuse of water for the tailings processing system and thus increased risk of drought conditions in Lake
County.
8.The proximity of the project site to residential property wells.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1990057
I
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
I
Permit Type
