Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
I'm highly concerned about CAK proposed processing of mining slag from Leadville's East Side using highly
toxic sodium cyanide giving their vague and poor proposal for execution and follow up of the project and the
great variables and uncertainty of the process. I wanna believe Leadville has learned from seeing the
devastating environmental outcome of disrupting the earth with such processes and their long term negative
impacts on the local ecology. Leadville saw 100 years of miners making their riches and leaving behind an
environmental catastrophe that has taken decades and millions of dollars to BEGIN to clean up as a declared
EPA superfund site.We can no longer afford to settle for the old, ignorant and greedy mentality of"If it's sounds
like a great idea and it's profitable, execute first and worry about the repercussions and consequences later,
There's nothing in this proposed operation that our community would benefit from. The threat, however,of major
hazards to human health and the ecosystem we live in is very real.l'd never support the disruption of the
somewhat stable East Side's Tailing Piles unless by a Not-for-Profit agency for the sake of remediating the area
to support future generations and the overall health of the ecosystem.Another real concern of mine is the noise
and added daily traffic of heavy equipment abusing our already poor roads and raising great amounts of toxic
dust which is already a problem with motorized recreation on the east side. Lastly I object against the lake
county water that will be required to process the slag. Leadville has transitioned heavily from a mining economy
to a tourism based economy and this project reflects a highly likelihood of negatively affecting the town's
recreation opportunities and attractions.A backwards step.
Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1990057
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
