Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
As a 45+year resident of Leadville, Lake County, Co, I am very concerned about the expansion of the milling
operations by CJK and the use cyanide. The potential for environmental contamination and degradation is
significant, particularly considering the proximity to the Arkansas River, wildlife habitat and residences.
Additionally, the heavy truck traffic will impact our city streets and highways and be a source of noise and
pollution. The mine tailings they seek to disturb for their own financial gain are part of Leadville's history and are
actually a draw for some visitors. They are stable now,but they could be a source of air and water pollution if
disturbed.Trucking them down city streets could create a health hazard for Leadville's residents and a danger
to our children. Our tourism depends on the quiet, small town atmosphere, outdoor recreation and the history of
mining, and I believe this industrial operation would be detrimental to this. Also concerning is the potential for a
major environmental catastrophe. The EPA worked for years to remedy the contamination left behind by the
industry of the past. I have no confidence in CJK's ability to operate a safe operation in our home. Please reject
this project.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1990057
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
County
Lake
Enter one county only
I
