The
required fee of $257 for this SWSP renewal has been received (receipt no. 10027918). This SWSP was
most recently approved by the State Engineer's Office ("SEO") on August 8, 2017 for the period of
September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018.
Plan Operation
The Heit Sand and Gravel Mine, operated by the City and County of Broomfield ("Applicant" or
"Broomfield"), previously operated by Pioneer Sand and Gravel, is located in the E 'h of Section 13,
Township 2 North, Range 67 West, 61h P.M., in Weld County. The Applicant intends to remove material for
future water storage in accordance with Colorado Law. The pit currently exposes 5.95 acres of trapped
native groundwater. This SWSP seeks to provide replacements for depletions which will occur due to
evaporation and dust control. The mine perimeter was lined with a slurry wall in accordance with the
State Engineer's Lining Criteria, and was approved by the Division Office on June 24, 2009. In accordance
with paragraph 21 of the General Guidelines for Substitute Water Supply Plans for Sand and Gravel Pits,
replacement shall be made for native groundwater that is lost to evaporation. For purposes of this SWSP,
it is assumed that all water within the lined area is trapped native groundwater. Therefore, this plan will
account for depletions resulting from evaporation of exposed water within the lined area.
