Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
This is a response from Concerned Citizens 4 Lake County(CC4LC)members to the current CJK Milling
application being reviewed by DRMS.CC4LC Association includes Diane and Brad Smith, Ruth Goltzer,Jim
Kohlmoos, Betty and George Benson, Patricia and Brian Nagel,Steven McCauley, Rayan Derakhshandegan,
Sarah Cox, Doug Yeakel, Laurie Strasburger,
and Ilene and Larry Jack. There are many other members of this community who have expressed similar views
as we are presenting. As such,we provide this reply to the CJK Milling Company's recent application.
The concerns we wish to address in this response letter are the following:
Materials Handling-The recent train accident in East Palestine, Ohio where chemicals burned and residential
water sources were affected, demonstrates that accidents DO happen no matter how careful a company claims
to operate. It also illustrates how real people in affected communities are left devastated by toxic water and air
that destroys their lives by causing chronic health problems.Additionally, it impoverishes them because they
now have worthless businesses and home investments while those responsible for the chemical release play
the blame game with governing authorities. Two weeks after the East Palestine incident, another accident
occurred and although it did not compromise dangerous chemicals, there WERE dangerous chemicals being
transported and only by luck those tankers did not leave the track.Cyanide is a very dangerous chemical and
should not be used so close to residential properties nor near water sources such as wells and the Arkansas
