The sediment pond is to remain on site to promote wildlife habitat. The primary 36" pipe spillway was plugged with concrete
and the outer components were removed. The emergency spillway was armored with rock. Eleven (11)Tamarisk trees (a
noxious weed specie in Colorado)were excavated and removed from the bottom of the pond.
All disturbed areas left in a rough state, seeded, fertilized and mulched. Seed was purchased from Arkansas Valley Seed
Company at a cost of$400.00 (2 acres seeded). All areas were hand seeded using the following seed mixture
recommended by the Coal Program:
SPECIES SCIENTIFIC NAME VARIETY PLS POUNDS PER ACRE
Rubber rabbitbrush Chrysothamnus 0.2
nauseousus
Fourwing saltbush Atriplex canescens Rincon 1.0
Shadscale saltbush Atriplex confertifolia 4.0
Western wheatgrass Agropyron smihii Arriba 6.0
Indian ricegrass Orypopsis hymenoides Paloma 3.0
TOTAL pls lbs./acre 14.2
The project was completed on April 17, 2009.
Change orders were issued as follows;
Change Order#1
• Install the 4 additional Access Road/Fill Outslope check dams below the main drainage channel. $0.00 (used
additionals)
• Install the 2 additional Portal check dams within the 50 foot portal slope. $0.00 (used additionals)
• Construct a ditch 49 feet long, 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep on the old exploration road above the fill. $0.00 (used
additionals)
• Additional excavation work in the sediment pond to remove 11 Tamarisk noxious weed plants. $0.00 (used
additionals)
Change Order#2
• Install a rock channel 115 feet long below the constructed road check dams.
