Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ACTIVE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS
Permit Information
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name
P-1988-055 David Tryton Peabody Placer
Type of Mine: NOI Commodity Mined- Gold
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
The Peabody Placer operation is located on historic dredge piles along Tarryall Creek. The site is two miles west
of the Town of Como in Park County, Colorado. The Notice of Intent (NOI) to prospect was issued to David
Tryton in 1988. In 2004, the NOI was revoked and the bond money was forfeited.
The NOI file states that the prospector will be processing old dumps with a small test plant at a rate of 10 cubic
yards per day. The road was also to be improved by using existing rock piles for a length of 50 feet and width of
8 feet. The reclamation involved leveling the disturbed rock piles and sand banks to pre-existing conditions.
The Division inspected the site in 2011. Historic dredge piles were noted along the banks of Tarryall Creek. A
constructed road leads to the creek and along the eastern bank of Tarryall Creek. Most of the area consists of
rock piles but some piles have been bladed down exposing soil. Little to no vegetation is present.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid Documented Quote P e Order
(circle one) Invitation for Bid Direct Bill
PO Number: Contractor Name &Address: Construction Direct Bill Amount - $206.00
Direct Bill Dates: Seed Purchase- $408.00
Berry Trucking and
Excavating, Inc.
