Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ACTIVE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS
Permit Information
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name: Slagle Site
John F. Slagle Available Bond: $1,811.91
P-1992-023
Type of Mine—Surface prospect pits Commodity Mined -Amazonite, Smokey Quartz, Rare Earth
Minerals
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
John and Barbara Slagle obtained this prospecting permit in 1992 on land they owned about 5 miles north of
Florissant. They used a dozer to excavate small shallow pits to explore for amazonite, smoky quartz and rare
earth pegmatite minerals. The Minerals Program inspected the site in 1992 and reported the existence of
trenches, pits, stockpiles, slash piles, and re-graded areas in an area covering about 1.35 acres. There were no
subsequent inspections. The Division subsequently terminated the Notice of Intent and forfeited the financial
warranty, of which $1,716.52 was available for reclamation.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid Documented Quote
(circle one) Formal - Bid as the Project, PKA-
PO Number Contractor Name&Address Construction Bond Amount
Lloyd Collyer Dates $ 1,716.52
23590 E. 1St Place Start:
Aurora, Colorado 80018
PO Date End: Project Cost
$1,729.50
Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost:
The site was reclaimed by Mr. Lloyd (Doug) Collyer of Aurora, Colorado. I inspected this site on December 1,
2004. The pits and disturbed areas have been backfilled and re-contoured, reseeded with an NCRS and USFS
approved seed mix, mulched, and planted with trees. The disturbed areas have been re-graded and reseeded
and now support a healthy self-sustaining vegetative cover (photos 1-4). A metal barn or shed has been
constructed in one portion of the reclaimed area (photo 5). No further work is required on this site. Mr. Collyer
sent an itemization of the reclamation costs and these were received January 7, 2005 and are enclosed with this
report.
