Colorado Division roject of Reclamation, <br /> Mining & Safety <br /> London Mine Revegetation Project <br /> 2014 & 2015- Wetland Restoration <br /> Background 41.4',;•d. <br /> The London Mine was reclaimed by the Division of �,-� � � <br /> Reclamation, ng andanda <br /> Mining Safety in 2013 2014. The work <br /> � wr <br /> involved reclaiming three tailings piles associated with the y <br /> London Mine and consolidating tailings at the London Butte <br /> Mine. Both projects included covering the tailings with on- <br /> site borrow material and incorporating composted biosolids <br /> donated by Freeport McMoRan into the soil. All disturbed <br /> areas were seeded, including wetland vegetation and <br /> transplants. A total of 15 acres of disturbed lands at the <br /> London and Butte Mines have been reclaimed to date. <br /> Wetland Restoration <br /> The project work consisted of wetland restoration and <br /> revegetation of the reclaimed area of the London and Butte <br /> Mines. The work included seeding with wetland species, and Top: Wetland grass <br /> purchasing/delivering/planting wetland plugs, shrubs and plugs planted at the <br /> trees. Approximately 2.5 acres worth of wetland plants and London Butte spring in <br /> seeds were planted over the 15 acre project site. Over 12,500 2015. <br /> plants were installed in 2.0 acres of restored wetlands. Left: Willows planted <br /> Meandering area plantings consisted of a mix of willows along the banks of <br /> collected from the site and herbaceous plants purchased by the South Mosquito Creek <br /> A <br /> Contractor. Seeps and springs on site received a mixture of <br /> at the London and <br /> • i ''aButte Mines. Over <br /> willow cuttings and containerized willows grown from 5,000 willow cuttings <br /> cuttings and herbaceous plants. A total of 5,000 willow were planted. <br /> cuttings were clipped and installed within the wetland <br /> restoration area.
