The
sand and gravel permit was issued to Ritchey's Redi-Mix in 1982 for 2.0 acres. In 2006, the Mined Land
Reclamation Board revoked the permit and forfeited the $1,000.00 bond for failure to pay annual fees, submit an
annual report and pay civil penalties.
A majority of the 2-acre site was reclaimed by the operator prior to permit revocation. The only area not
reclaimed was a steep access road leading to the site. Runoff from the irrigated fields above mine site would run
down the road, deposit sediment into the creek, and ultimately deposit into the downstream fish hatchery.
Reclamation of the access road was delayed for several years because of the use of the road to remove Russian
Olive trees around Chief Creek. The Division of Parks and Wildlife (DPW) and landowner, Dan Sitzman,
completed the tree removal and restoration of Chief Creek in 2013.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid Documented Quote Purchase Order
(circle one) Invitation for Bid
PO Number: N/A Contractor Name & Address: Construction Bond Amount - $950.00
Direct Bill Dates: ($ 246.00 used for seed)
Doug Sessions Construction, Severance Tax (FM4)- $4,146.00
Inc. A series of three (3) terraces were constructed along the road in order
to slow down water leading to Chief Creek. The terraces were constructed using existing riprap, sediment
material provided by the fish hatchery and material obtained on-site. Terraces varied in dimension based on the
location, but were approximately twenty-five to thirty five feet (25ft - 35ft)feet long, ten feet (10-ft)wide and four
to six feet (4ft - 6ft)feet high. They were keyed in with riprap two feet (2-ft) deep and two feet (2-ft)wide. The
landowner provided the riprap material and the Division of Park and Wildlife (DPW) provided sediment from the
fishery ponds located downstream of the site. In addition, DPW provided erosion control matting that will be
used with the eastern grassland seed mixture provided to the landowner.
Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost:
No remaining work is required on site.
ic)
--eZ61/4' (Li)/ 44 )9
Project Manager Senior Pr j, t Manager
Date Date
