Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program <br /> CLOSEOUT REPORT <br /> BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS <br /> Introduction: The Sherman Mine had been inactive since 1985 and abandoned for at least 17 years. The mine buildings were <br /> either collapsed or in complete disrepair. The site was experiencing severe erosion and other environmental hazards and the <br /> overall site is considered dangerous and unsafe. CDRMS recalculated the bond and Leadville Corporation, Inc. was unable to <br /> post the required bond. Both US BLM and Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board (CMLRB) found Leadville Corporation, Inc. <br /> in violation of the requirements of their permit, and the CMLRB terminated the permit and the bond was forfeit. <br /> Permit Information <br /> Permit Number: Operator Name: Mine Name: Sherman Mine <br /> M1977-249 Leadville Corporation <br /> Type of Mine— Underground Hardrock 112 Permit Commodity Mined: Lead and Silver <br /> PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS: Decaying mine site, with buildings in various stages of falling down. <br /> Transformers, powerline, boiler with asbestos, ice plug in portal, mine dump erosion. Site was reclaimed in 2007 and 2008. <br /> Large precipitation events and extremely fast erosion caused erosion and rilling. <br /> BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION: Pre-bid July 13, 2010, attended by 11 potential bidders. Bid opening on July <br /> 27, 2010, with 9 bids.
