Construction Summary and Narrative Description of project/construction details,
overview, factors.
Reclamation consisted of the following work:
- Raymond Mine: The entry was partially obstructed by a collapse. An opening to the
mine existed inby the collapse. The opening was backfilled until refusal with on-site
coarse rock material. Additional material was added to the surface of the fill to
accommodate sloughing. A partially collapsing wood shed that stood at the mine entry
was demolished, and two (2) six inch (6") PVC pipes were anchored to the floor of the
mine to accommodate drainage. The pipes were tied into an existing drainage system
that conveys mine discharge to an existing on-site pond. The original plan to convey the
mine discharge via an open channel to be constructed, to the pond was abandoned, as
the open channel flow across the free standing coarse rock pad raised stability
concerns. Therefore, tying the drainage into the existing buried pipe drainage system
was determined to be a better option. The entry was backfilled using coarse rock
material derived on-site.
- Upper Raymond Mine: The Upper Raymond was partially collapsed, and had a weak
grate/access door attached to a wood wall outby the collapse. The wood structure and
rebar door were removed, and four feet (4') of coarse, non-acidic waste rock, which had
been spoiled downslope of FSR 771 was placed over the collapse.
- Grand Prize Raise: The Grand Prize Raise was an inclined, cribbed raise. The cribbing
extends approximately three feet (3') above adjacent ground level. Competent rock was
visible at six feet (6') below ground surface. A form was set at eight feet below ground
surface elevation, and polyurethane foam was placed from the form elevation to ground
surface elevation. Coarse rock was placed over the foam to the top of the cribbing.
- Chloride Mine: The Chloride Mine area consisted of an adit that was open for about thirty
feet (30') collapsed for a distance, and open again at about seventy feet (70'). Three
buildings, a large quantity of miscellaneous debris, and historic mining related materials
and equipment were also located at the site. None of the historic material or equipment
was disturbed. The two smaller buildings were demolished and removed to the adit for
disposal. The miscellaneous debris and materials were removed to the adit for disposal,
however some lumber was stacked and left on the mine bench pad, so it would not
decay and lead to backfill instability. The adit shed was demolished and placed within
the adit for disposal. The adit entry and the collapse located approximately seventy feet
(70') inby the entry were filled using coarse rock materials derived from the site.
- Farley Mine: The Farley site contained a substantial amount of aluminum pipe and
miscellaneous debris. No structures were left at the site, and the entry had collapsed.
Reclamation consisted of removing all of the non-historic debris from the site, and
