Colorado Division roj of Reclamation, <br /> Mining & Safety <br /> Little Silver Permit Revocation Project <br /> • <br /> Installation • ri <br /> The Little Silver Mining Permit, M-1981-242, was revoked and <br /> the bond forfeited by the Mined Land Reclamation Board in June <br /> 2000. The mine site is located on US Forest Service (USFS) <br /> managed lands, approximately 30 miles northeast of Dolores, <br /> located in the West Dolores River Valley in Dolores County, <br /> Colorado. Environmental Resource Group, Inc. was awarded the , <br /> contract to remove oil products, salvage steel equipment and ,` # <br /> scrap, dispose of trash, demolish buildings and consolidate wood <br /> refuse for later incineration by the USFS. The project was <br /> completed in 5 days ending on August 22,2009. <br /> Excavator hauling equipment off-site. <br /> A CAT 314 excavator and Bobcat skid steer were used to haul <br /> all materials to the staging area before load-out. All salvage <br /> vehicles were hauled to a salvage yard in Dolores and a 30-yard <br /> dumpster was located on-site for trash and debris disposal. A <br /> large amount of manual labor was required to pick trash/debris • <br /> ',: , <br /> from the area around the site. The excavator was used to ,t I' <br /> demolish both cabins and all wooden materials were consolidated <br /> at the USFS-approved burn area. <br /> The mine adit was backfilled with of native rock and waste pile <br /> materials. A mini-excavator was rented due to the narrow access +� <br /> road. A bat exclusion grate was installed for 3 days prior to . <br /> backfill. <br /> • <br /> Water bars were installed on remaining roads as specified by the - <br /> USFS. All disturbed areas were revegetated. <br /> QA/QC Use of excavator and skid steer to load debris near log shop. <br /> DRMS inspectors and USFS personnel witnessed final backfill <br /> grades and verified steel salvage and debris/trash removal. The <br /> contractor provided documentation on proper waste oil disposal. <br /> Conclusion <br /> The Little Silver mine site was reclaimed pursuant to the <br /> Reclamation Plan specified in the mining permit. The open adit <br /> was backfilled to prohibit entry,buildings were demolished,trash CDRMS Office Locations <br /> and debris were removed from site, and all disturbed areas were Denver <br /> 303-866-3567 <br /> revegetated.
