1-
VI. CONSTRUCTION SUMMARY
Construction was targeted at stabilizing a portion of the North Fork of the Gunnison adjacent to the
revoked gravel pit, and to attempt initial noxious weed control on an infestation of Whitetop, Russian
Knapweed, Yellow Toadflax.
Streambank stabilization focused on a 91.89 feet length of the North Fork using large boulders and finer
grained materials. Vegetative stabilization was rejected by the Property Owner. Finer grained rock,
averaging 6"— 10" as measured across the longest axis of the rock, was dumped and placed against the
streambank from the base of the channel to an elevation approximately equal to the high water mark.
Larger diameter rip rap, averaging between 2' and 6' as measured across the longest axis of any one rock,
was placed over the smaller rock. No more than 2 cubic yards per lineal foot of rip rap was placed along
the stream bank.
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers required a Regional General Permit for this work. The permit was
obtained prior to initiating construction, and was terminated on January 3, 2000.
Noxious weed infestations of Whitetop,Russian Knapweed, Yellow Toadflax were noted in the eastern
portion of the permit area. Roaring Fork Vegetation Management spot applied Tordon (Russian
Knapweed, Yellow Toadflax) and Escort(Whitetop)in April, 2000.
V. FUTURE MAINTENANCE
Future maintenance would focus on the weed infestation at the most up-stream portion of the mine permit
area. Lack of forfeited bond funds will prohibit this work from being accomplished.
VI. SUMMARY
This Project was intended to complete recommendations developed by the Minerals Regulatory Program
during the permit revocation and bond forfeiture process
•
Project Manager Steve Renner
Date 12-05-00
M:\imp\closeout\colemans&g.doc
