TO: JIM McARDLE
FROM: PAUL KRABACHER
DATE: December 7, 2000
RE: CLOSEOUT - Arrigo Milling and Mining —Yukon Tunnel Permit #M78-144
Bond Forfeiture
Grate construction for the portal of the above referenced site was completed last week by Dirt-
N-Iron of Loma, Colorado. Final inspection was performed on December 4, 2000. The site
exhibited a blocked internal mine drainage pipe which allowed for mine drainage to exit the
portal onto and around the mine dump. A perforation was made into the internal 8" d pipe,
which now allows for the drainage to exit the portal through a previously constructed
conveyance to the drainage to the north. A minor amount of water (1/2 of a 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe)
still flows to the portal but returns back into the workings, through the constructed footing and
into the perforated 8" pipe.
The constructed grate is situated in 3" X 3" frame which measures 7'w X 5'h. Grating is 1/8" X 1
1/4" on 15/16"cc with cross rods on 2"cc. Corners are strengthened with 1"wide, 3/16" thick
strap. There are three 10" long, 3/4" d hinges. The lock box is very tight with zero play. Getting
the lock (SN4720) on and off is aided by a finger width slot in the plate which hides/protects the
lock from the access hole in the door. In addition to the monster size door, an additional piece
of grating was fit above timber set above the door. Habitually done by Dirt-N-Iron, there also is
a brass cap fit into a 3" deep, 3" i.d. pipe section welded to the grate. The grate construction
was completed at a cost, which used up the entire amount of forfeited funds of $2,375.00.
