Irrigated Pasture— Sedimentology Results
The table below presents the predicted soil loss in tons/acre/year on a representative slope from the
Irrigated Pasture Phase II Bond Release Area for pre-mining and post-mining evaluations. The pre-
mining representative slope exhibited 0.044 tons/acre/year of predicted soil loss. In comparison, the
post-mining representative slope exhibited 0.026 tons/acre/year of predicted soil loss.
A (soil loss in tons/acre/year) for Irrigated Pasture
Parameter Pre- Post-
Mining Minin
- Factor
- Factor 0.320
LS - Factor
- Factor 0.0190 0.0168
- Factor
A (soil loss in tons 0.044 0.026
/acre/ ear
Irrigated Pasture Phase II Bond Release Area post-mining evaluation exhibits less predicted erosion
than the pre-mining evaluation with 0.044 tons/acre/year versus 0.026 tons/acre/year.
PHASE III
The following is a discussion of the observations of the reclaimed wells that are requested for Phase I, II
and II bond release:
There are two (2) sets of groundwater monitoring wells, and five (5) individual monitoring wells are requested
for Phase I, II and III bond release. One set of reclaimed groundwater monitoring wells, GW-N41, GW-N42,
and GW-N43 are located in Section 31, on the eastern edge of Mr. Dirk Richards' property. These are the
only reclaimed structures on Mr. Richards' property applicable to this SL25 bond release application. Mr.
Richards had other concerns, not related to the reclamation of the groundwater wells, that he has specified in
an objection letter to the Division, and which his representative, Ms. Schweikhardt, noted during the
inspection. Mr. Richards' concerns, that are unrelated to SL25,have been approved for final bond release
during previous bond releases, SL22. Mr. Richards, the landowner did not provide comment to the Division
during the SL22 bond release actions. Mr. Richards' reclaimed property was removed from the permit area
with the approval of TR98, on June 4, 2020. No comments were received during the TR98 comment period.
Mr. Richards' representative, Ms. Schweikhardt, discussed Mr. Richards' concerns with the operator.
The reclaimed GW-N41, GW-N42, and GW-N43 wells were located along the edge of a ditch northwest of the
CC ditch drop structure. These wells have been reclaimed, abandonment reports submitted to the Division, the
surface graded to blend with the surrounding field, and vegetation similar to the surrounding area is
established. No erosional features, noxious weed establishment, or other concerns were noted with the
reclamation of these three monitoring well sites.
A cluster of reclaimed groundwater monitoring wells; GW-N16P1, GW-17P1, and GW-NI8P1,were located
in the NW 1/4 of Section 6. The landowner in this location is Elma Burbridge. The landowner chose not to
C1981008 SL25 Page 12 of 14
