Peaceful Valley Irrigation &Landscaping ("Peaceful Valley") completed the fall inspection along <br /> County Road 5/10 from its intersection with John Brown Road to the Mine entrance on September <br /> 19, 2022. Copies of Peaceful Valley's inspection report and pictures by Mine personnel are in <br /> Appendix B. <br /> 2.0 Weed Control <br /> In accordance with the permits mentioned above,if noxious weeds are identified,they are required <br /> to be sprayed. Large infestations were sprayed by a licensed commercial contractor (Peaceful <br /> Valley) along County Road 5/10 from its intersection with John Brown Road to the Mine entrance. <br /> Smaller weed occurrences within the fenced mine area were sprayed by Mine personnel using a <br /> backpack sprayer. The following summarizes the spraying activities. <br /> Mine personnel initiated weed spraying on the Mine site on April 19, 2022, completing it July 26, <br /> 2022. Approximately 1.25 acres were sprayed within the Mine site area including around the <br /> parking area as well as along the road to the portal. Spraying was performed using a backpack <br /> sprayer, targeting Field Bindweed and Russian Knapweed. Blue dye was added to the chemical <br /> mix as required. A copy of the weed spraying forms are attached for each date as well as a site <br /> map with the locations sprayed highlighted in green in Appendix C. <br /> Peaceful Valley completed weed spraying along the County Road 5/10 from its intersection with <br /> John Brown Road to the Mine entrance. Spraying was performed on August 18, 2022, using BLM <br /> approved herbicides. 78.70 acres were sprayed targeting Russian Knapweed and Field Bindweed. <br /> A copy of Peaceful Valley's spray report is in Appendix D. <br /> In addition, Duncan Dearduff reported some spraying in places along County Road 5/10 and on <br /> the Mine site during the May 28, 2022 survey. <br /> 3.0 Weed Species <br /> As required by the Permit, State List A and B species scheduled for eradication that are found are <br /> to be eradicated. Of those weed species identified in the inspection reports, two are listed on <br /> Colorado's State List B species including Russian Knapweed and Biennial Thistles. No State List <br /> A species were identified by the inspections. Additionally, Field Bindweed and Cheatgrass were <br /> also identified and, although neither is a State List A or B species, they are State List C species <br /> and noxious weeds are required to be managed according to the DR and Plan. As mentioned <br /> above, Russian Knapweed and Field Bindweed were targeted using BLM approved herbicides. <br /> The BLM approved herbicides are also effective in eliminating Cheatgrass and Biennial Thistle. <br /> 2 <br />
