Rifle Gravel Pit#1 January 2023
reclamation effort follows Garfield County LUC standards (LUC Section 7-1002.H). Formal
wetland mitigation per USACE standards is not required, as no impacts to wetlands are
proposed.
See Section 6 for additional information regarding reclamation of the property.
5.3 Mining Timetable
At this time, the proposed mine would operate daily, with excavation and processing
occurring 8 months of the year (roughly April — November). Total recoverable volume is
estimated at approximately 292,810 CY of aggregate, which is expected to support
operations for between three and five years.
The estimated schedule for preparing, mining, and reclaiming this site is as follows:
• March 2023 —start of site prep (LDA staking, overburden removal, and berm
construction)
• April 2023— start of mining operations and concurrent reclamation as mining
progresses
• December 2026 to 2028— end of mining operations and reclamation (life of mine
estimated at 3-5 years)
Table 2 provides a range of the duration of mining by phase/stage, estimated nature, depth
and thickness of the deposit to be mined and type of overburden to be removed.
Attachment C includes the exploratory boring logs and material information.
33
