Property Name: ❑ Historic ❑ Current ❑Other
2. Resource Classification: XBuilding ❑Structure ❑Object ❑Sites/Landscape
3.Ancillary Identification: Feature 2
DESCRIPTION
4. Construction Features(forms, materials):
Stories Style/Type Foundation Walls
1 No style Poured concrete Wood siding
Windows Roof Chimney Porch
1 9-lite window Side gable, asphalt tiles None None
Optional.,additional description(plan/footprint,dimensions, character-defining and decorative elements of exterior and interior;
alterations, additions, etc.):
Feature 2 is a wood-framed and wood-clad outbuilding,which may have served as a garage and shed, has horizontal lapboard
siding that matches the front porch addition on the house. The wood siding at both buildings is similar to and likely
contemporaneous to the wood-framed farmhouse adjacent to it at 1519 East 8th Street(5WL9412).The end-gabled rectangular
garage building has an end-gabled shed added on its east end. The outbuilding appears to have been converted to a two-bay
garage,with the bay doors(currently off the building)made of plywood. Based on vertical siding placed between the two bays,this
west end of the outbuilding may have been entirely open on the front(south side)before renovations in recent years. The attached
shed has a separate two-door entry set on the west end of its south side.A nine-lite window is adjacent to the entry and centered in
the south fagade of the shed.The east end of the shed has been reclad and repaired recently. The roof has also recently been
reclad with brown asphalt shingles matching those of the house. The roof of the shed is asymmetrical, and more sloped at the rear
(north side)of the building. Unlike the adjacent house,the shed and garage have exposed rafters at the eaves.
HISTORICAL ASSOCIATIONS (based on visual observations and/or review of secondary sources):
5.
