Cultural Resource Review and Reconnaissance Survey for the Fairmeadows RV Storage and Gravel Mining Pit
Project, Greeley, Weld County, Colorado
running southeast to northwest. This contrasts with all the house and garage buildings on the property that
are oriented south and generally align to the cardinal compass directions.
Feature 3 is a concrete block building that was likely used as a garage, shop,or equipment shed(Figures
14-17).Feature 3 is located approximately 300 feet southwest of the house(Feature 1), is aligned parallel
and adjacent to the larger Quonset but(Feature 4),and is the second concrete block building at the site
besides the garage(Feature 2). The rectangular building has an end-gabled roof with horizontal wood
siding under the gables between the roofline and concrete block wall. The roof is covered in corrugated
steel roofing panels and the rafters are exposed at the eaves. The building has a double-bay set of roll-up
garage doors on the southwest fagade. On the northwest and northeast facades, it has paired,multi-lite
double sash wood-framed windows with brick sills that have hardware mesh exterior screens bolted to the
building's exterior.
` r
5
^r
Figure 14. Site 5WL9412, primary southwest-facing facades of Feature 3 (concrete
block building) on left, Feature 4 (Quonset hut) at center, and Feature 5 (worker's
cottage) on right, view to the northeast.
16
