SLOPE STABILITY RESULTS
The MLRB requires minimum safety factors of 1.50 for static condition analyses and
1.30 for pseudo-static (earthquake loading) condition analyses for embankments
adjacent to critical structures. The calculated factors of safety are within the design
criteria specified for this project and can be considered indicators of the mining slope
performance under the various conditions. The slopes were analyzed using full and
empty reservoir conditions. The results of the static condition and pseudo-static
condition slope stability analyses are shown in Table 2 and Table 3.
Table 2 - Static Condition Slope Stability Analysis Results
Required
Calculated Minimum
Factor Factor of
Description of Safety Safety
Case 1 — Fence —to Slurry Wall Bench 2.30 1.50
Case 1 — Fence —to Bottom of Pit 2.33 1.50
Case 2— Fence —to Slurry Wall Bench 2.22 1.50
Case 2— Fence —to Bottom of Pit 2.38 1.50
Case 3— Fence —to Slurry Wall Bench 2.76 1.50
Case 3— Fence —to Bottom of Pit 2.40 1.50
Case 4— Fence & Lift Station —to Slurry Wall Bench 3.41 1.50
Case 4— Fence & Lift Station —to Bottom of Pit 2.42 1.50
Case 5— Sanitary Sewer, Water Line, Fence, Fiber Line, 3.04 1.50
Roadway, Bridge/Ditch, Structure, Power Poles and Lines,
and Building —to Slurry Wall Bench
Case 5— Sanitary Sewer, Water Line, Fence, Fiber Line, 2.42 1.50
Roadway, Bridge/Ditch, Structure, Power Poles and Lines,
and Building —to Bottom of Pit
Case 6—Water Line, Power Poles and Lines, Fence, 2.76 1.50
Telephone Line, and Oil/Gas Equipment—to Slurry Wall
Bench
Case 6—Water Line, Power Poles and Lines, Fence, 2.78 1.50
Telephone Line, and Oil/Gas Equipment—to Bottom of Pit
J-2 Contracting Company—Sunset Industrial Pit
Slope
J&T Consulting, Inc.
