a ERC Fairmeadows Site
Aquatic Resource Delineation Report
4.3 UPLAND HABITAT
The aquatic resource delineation identified the entire 86.0-acre as upland habitat within the survey area consisting
predominantly of ruderal grasses, forbs, a fallow agricultural field, and plains cottonwood (Populus deltoides ssp.
monilifera), Siberian elm (Ulmus pumila), and Russian olive (Elaeognus angustifolia) species in the tree layer.
Topography across the survey area is gently sloping to the southern boundary of the survey area. Uplands within
the survey area are predominantly characterized by the Ruderal Crested Wheatgrass Grassland and Cropland
Fallow Field communities (NatureServe 2022). The Ruderal Crested Wheatgrass vegetation community
characterized within the survey area is somewhat based on natural vegetation associations in the region; however,
have been disturbed by historic and current land use practices thus represent somewhat degraded forms of these
communities. A summary of upland habitat within the survey area is provided as follows.
Ruderal Crested Wheatgrass Grassland Community
The Ruderal Crested Wheatgrass Grassland community within the survey area includes lands within the survey
area that can generally be described as open space with exotic grasses dominating the vegetated areas including
the areas around the home sites. These areas are generally dominated by herbaceous species such as crested
wheatgrass(Agropyron cristatum), kochia (eassia scoparium), and sand dropseed (Sporobolus cryptandrus).
Cropland Fallow Field Community
The Cropland Fallow Field community within the survey area includes lands within the survey area that can
generally be described as a fallow agricultural field within an unvegetated area. These areas appear to currently
be in agricultural use as it has been recently tilled and have sparse-to-no vegetive cover.
Refer to Photos 3-10 below for characteristics of upland habitat identified within the survey area.
.r
WkIl
Photo 3.
