XX. Concurrent Surface and Underground Mining- Rule 4.22
No concurrent surface and underground mining is planned for the permit renewal period.
XXI. Auger Mining - Rule 4.23
No auger mining is currently proposed in the mine plan. However, auger mining was done in
1993 in the Section 11 Pit. Further, highwall mining in the East Pit, West Pit, South Taylor Pit,
and Collom Pit has been approved (PAP, Section 4.23).
XXII. Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors - Rule 4.24
The Permit was found to be in compliance with Rule 4.24.
Information related to alluvial valley floors is found in Sections 2.04.7, 2.06.8 and 4.24; Exhibit
7; and Maps 7, 11, 11A, 1113, 11C, 12, 12A, 1213, 12C 17, 32 and 37 of the PAP. A detailed
summary of alluvial valley floors identified during the original permitting of the Mine can be
found in the original findings document.
A. Designation of Alluvial Valley Floors
Stream Valley Segments Determined to be Alluvial Valley Floors
The Division has made the determination that portions of four drainages with segments in or
adjacent to the permit area are considered alluvial valley floors: Good Spring Creek, Wilson
Creek, Lower Elkhorn Creek, and Jubb Creek. These stream valleys are shown on Map I IA of
the PAP. The following stream valley segments have been determined to be alluvial valley
floors:
• Good Spring Creek valley deposits mapped as Qa on Map I IA of the PAP, extending
from the West Fork Good Spring Creek confluence downstream for the entire length of
the valley.
• Upper segment of Wilson Creek valley deposits mapped as Qa on Map I IA of the PAP,
from the confluence of East and West Forks of Wilson Creek, downstream to the
approximate center of Section 7, T3N, R93W.
• Lower segment of Wilson Creek valley deposits mapped as Qa on Map I IA of the PAP,
extending from lower boundary of"Area Affected by 1985 Erosion and Mass Wasting
Event."
• Lower Elkhorn Creek valley deposits mapped as Qa on Map I IA of the PAP.
• Jubb Creek and its tributary valleys with deposits mapped as Qa on Map I IA of the PAP.
Flood irrigation may have occurred in the past along portions of Wilson Creek within the permit
area.
