3. Floodplain <br /> There is no floodplain or floodway present on the Hayden Gravel Pit site according to the FEMA <br /> flood mapping services. <br /> 4. Wetlands <br /> A wetland delineation survey was conducted on the site in 2013. The results are shown on all <br /> maps. While this delineation will need reconfirming prior to disturbance, it is assumed to be <br /> accurate. The internal roads that provide access to the new mining areas will cross and disturb <br /> these wetlands. This disturbance will be authorized through a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers <br /> (USACE) Nationwide Permit (NWP). This permit is currently being pursued and will be provided <br /> to the Division as soon as it is procured. Wetlands disturbance will not occur until the NWP has <br /> been approved. <br /> Approximately 0.07 acres of wetlands will be directly replaced by the haul road. Any loss of <br /> wetlands less than 1/10 of an acre are authorized through an NWP without the requirements for <br /> compensatory mitigation. The wetlands disturbance is shown on Map C-2 and F-1. <br /> 5. Aquifer <br /> There is no known aquifer present at the Hayden Gravel Pit. <br /> 6. Surface Water <br /> The mining operation will impact surface water in the area through the stormwater runoff that <br /> enters the site. Maps C-1, C-2, and F-1 show the drainage patterns and how they develop <br /> throughout the life of the mine. Map G-1 shows the drainage basins, curve numbers, and a table <br /> of the runoff generated. Each mining pod will have sufficient storage capacity to contain the <br /> 100-YR runoff event that drains into it. The primary concern for surface water protection at the <br /> site is preventing the discharge of sediment, oil, and/or hydraulic fluids from the operation areas. <br /> Oils and hydraulic fluids are stored on site following the standard best management practices. <br /> These practices include the use of secondary containment at fluid storage and transfer points, <br /> spill kits, and employee training regarding safe handling practices. Sediment is trapped onsite <br /> using controls and best management practices by directing and controlling surface water runoff <br /> that enters the disturbed areas. More information on sediment and surface water control is <br /> provided below. <br /> 6.1 . Surface Water Handling <br /> Mining pods contain all of the disturbance at Hayden Gravel Pit.
