Interburden between the seams exceeds 30 feet in drill hole CH -12, <br />located in the center of Section 20. If interburden is thicker in the <br />northwestern portion of the lease and B seam quality improves, there is a <br />possibility that both seams may be mined. The underground drilling will <br />provide additional information about interburden. <br />Mining Plan <br />The Cameo C seam mining area is based on the following criteria: <br />• Federal lease boundaries, <br />• thickness of the coal <br />• presence of Cameo B seam workings <br />• Allow future access into Cameo B seam reserves where <br />interburden is than 30 feet. <br />In the Cameo C seam reserve area, mining of the recoverable reserve will <br />be as shown on Map D -1A. Room and pillar methods will be used to recover the <br />• coal. Major equipment includes continuous miners, shuttle cars, roof bolters, <br />feeder breakers, scoops and conveyor belts. The recoverable mining limits <br />include a 100 foot buffer zone around the LMU boundary. The mining limits <br />are also defined to within 180 feet of underground mining in the Cameo B <br />seam. <br />Main entries are aligned northwesterly, parallel to Jerry Creek. The <br />mains are offset 300 to 600 feet northeast of Jerry Creek. Development of the <br />main entries will utilize a six entry system with entry and crosscut centers of <br />70 and 80 feet respectively. The mains contain passageways for intake and <br />exhaust ventilation, personnel and supply transportation, and coal haulage. <br />The pillars of coal left after mining will be the primary means of roof support. <br />Additional support will utilize roofbolting, cribs, and wood posts. Protective <br />zones paralleling Jerry Creek and Coal Creek will have a maximum of 50 % <br />extraction to ensure that there will be no detrimental effect on the creeks. <br />• <br />PHCC R2P2 Page 6 2-28.99 <br />
