7.1 . Surface Water Handling — Mining
Surface water runoff will be handled the same way throughout the Mystic Soil's mine life: runoff
within disturbed areas will stay in disturbed areas using berms and grading. Berms will prevent
off-site discharge from entering the Soil Storage Area. The site road will be graded to drain into
the Soil Storage Area. Grading of the site to drain internally, along with the buffers of
undisturbed ground between the disturbed area and Lateral Forty-seven the Farmers Union
Canal, will ensure that no sediment laden water enters the Lateral. Once surface water is
collected within the mining pit, it will remain in the pit floor and be allowed to infiltrate.
7.1.1. Disturbed Area Runoff
Drainage basin within the Mystic Soil site can be seen on Map C-2. Stormwater runoff data can
all be found in Appendix G-1 in this exhibit. The results of those calculations can be seen on
Map G-1. Mining and reclamation will not create additional drainage from the site. Baseline
(Map C-1), mining (Map C-2), and reclamation (Map F-1) drainage basins and 100-YR runoff
volumes are delineated on each map. Drainage direction is also delineated on each map.
Sediment discharge will be controlled during mining by routing all discharge to the disturbed
areas where it will infiltrate or evaporate. No discharge of sediment from the site will occur.
Mystic Soil
October 2022 G-5 Lewicki&Associates
