i) Frequent mowing is the best means of reduce excessive mowing residue and sunlight shock <br /> from removing the weed cover. <br /> d) Mowing improves native grass seedlings' ability to compete with weeds. <br /> e) Mowing for weed control will be relied on throughout the establishment period. <br /> 4) Weed management strategies will be implemented from the outset to achieve final reclamation. <br /> a) Methods include keeping healthy pastures, using weed-free crop seed, weed-free manure and <br /> hay, cleaning harvest and tillage equipment, as well as the elimination of weed infestations in <br /> areas bordering cropland,and in irrigation ditches. <br /> b) Cultural: Methods include and are not limited to: Setting up and managing an adequate <br /> population of desirable vegetation to compete with the weeds; using livestock(cattle,goats, <br /> sheep) when possible; mulching and possibly burning. <br /> c) Mechanical: Methods include mowing and tillage. <br /> d) Biological: Biological weed control involves the use of natural enemies for the control of specific <br /> weed species.This method can be successful especially when combined with other control <br /> methods. <br /> e) Chemical: Always read the label before using any herbicide! <br /> i) If needed, herbicide application will be applied to further control weed infestations per the <br /> recommendation of a licensed and bonded herbicide applicator. ASCI will work with a <br /> knowledgeable area agronomists who is experienced with local conditions. <br /> 5) Planting cover a crops prior to native seeding is proven to assist in establishment of grasses. Control <br /> of weeds in the cover crops is beneficial to establishment of the native grasses. Herbicides will be <br /> chosen that will not carryover in the soil to cause problems for new native grasses.
