CO 80467
RE: Yoast Mine Permit; C1994082
Review: Sediment Pond Report 2022 Q2
Dear Ms. Kawcak:
Thank you for your submittal of the 2022 quarter two Sediment Pond Report for the Yoast Mine. The
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (The Division), has reviewed the above referenced
report. The report was received by the Division on 22 September 2022. Sediment pond inspections
were conducted by Jason Herden of Seneca Coal Company on 20 June 2022. The report is in compliance
with the applicable sections of Rule 4.05.9.
With the exceptions of previously identified maintenance/monitoring items, no maintenance issues were
noted during the inspection. All ponds hold water throughout the year. Pond 910 was discharging and Pond
912 was discharging at the time of inspection, outflow was 75 gallons per minute (gpm). Sediment levels
were acceptable.
Maintenance/monitoring items noted in the report comprise the rusting outlet culvert and cattails at Pond
910. DRMS understands that Seneca Coal Company monitors these items on a regular basis.
Thank you for the submission of the 2022 Q2 sediment Pond Report. DRMS has no questions and suggests
that maintenance items be addressed before snow and ice prevent access to the site.
Best Regards,
Robin Reilley,M.S.
