Quarterly water level monitoring UTL-01,02,03,04; Annual water quality monitoring
UTL-02 and UTL-04 (parameters listed in Permit Table 18-3); Monitoring of UTL-
01, 02, 03 & 04 Piezometers was discontinued in April 2011 with the approval of SL-
7 and they were abandoned and reclaimed in May 2011.
Roadside South Portal Workings
Well N-1, located at reclaimed North Decline; quarterly water level monitoring.
Rollins Sandstone Wells
Rollins-2 (At UTL) and Rollins-3 (Near Pond 7, North Decline)
The Rollins Sandstone wells were installed in the summer of 1997 in large part to
address questions raised by the Division in the 1995 mid-term review and review of
PR-02, regarding the hydrologic characteristics of the Rollins Sandstone within the
permit area. Quarterly water levels and Annual water quality analyses (Table 18-3)
required for Rollins Wells. Monitoring of in-mine wells(Rollins-1 and Rollins-4)has
been discontinued because the portals have been sealed and the wells are therefore no
longer accessible. Monitoring of Rollins-2 and Rollins-3 wells was discontinued with
the approval of SL-7 in April 2011 and they were abandoned and reclaimed in May
2011.
The Roadside Mines are required to submit to the Division an Annual Hydrologic
Report that provides information on the water quantity and quality for both the surface
and groundwater in the permitted area. In addition, quarterly NPDES reports are
submitted to the Division and the Department of Health to comply with the current
laws governing point sources. In the event of an effluent discharge that is not within
compliance parameters, a written notice will be forwarded to the Division and the
Department of Health.
Rapid Creek and Cottonwood Creek Piezometers
GWMS-OIA, O1B, 02A, 02B, 03A, and 03B, monitored water levels May and
September. Groundwater monitoring wells were located in both the Rapid Creek and
Cottonwood Creek basins. GWMS 02a and 02b were upstream on Cottonwood
Creek, GWMS 03a and 03b were upstream on Rapid Creek, while GWMS Ola and
Olb were downstream on Rapid Creek (downstream from the confluence with
Cottonwood Creek). These wells were placed to monitor surface subsidence impacts
on creek flows in the southern permit area;therefore, water level is the only parameter
measured. With the approval of SL-8 and TR-67 in 2015, monitoring of these wells
was discontinued. These piezometers were abandoned and plugged in August 2016.
SCC submitted the abandonment reports on September 13, 2016.
CRDA Piezometers
28
