COLORADO Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety Department of Natural Resources 1313 Sherman St. Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 October 26,2022 Elizabeth Shaeffer Office of Surface Mining Western Region One Federal Center, Building 41 PO Box 25065 Denver, CO 80225 Re: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-1981-010) Permit Revision Application No. 11 (PR-11) PR-11 5-Year Mine Plan Update Dear Sir or Madam: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118,Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes,that on October 24,2022, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Trapper Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. The 5-Year Mine Plan Update, comprises revised pit disturbance, reclamation, mining and a new bond calculation for permit term 2023-2027. A proposed increase of 137.10 acres of State surface in the permit area is requested bringing the current 11,1057.00 acre area to 11,294.10 acres. A proposed increase of 295.00 acres to the affected area from 3,269.00 acres to 3,564 acres is requested. The applicant is proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 6 miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado.
