Grand Ave, Ste 250 Montrose, CO 81401 Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) Permit Revision Application No. 9 (PR-9) PR-09 Prime Farmland Relocation Dear Montrose County Commissioners: This letter is to inform you that the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is proposing to approve a revision application for a coal mining and reclamation permit. The application was submitted by Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC on April 21, 2022, for the New Horizon Mine. The surface mine is located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: All or portions of the following: Sec 6, T46N, R15W: W ½ NE ¼; W ½ SW ¼ NE ¼; NW ¼; N ½ NE ¼ SW ¼; N ½ SE ¼; N ½ SE ¼ SE ¼ Sec 31 ,T47N, R15W: SW ¼ Sec 1, T46N, R16W: N ½ NE ¼ NE ¼; NW ¼ NE ¼; NW ¼ SE ¼ NE ¼; NE ¼ NW ¼; N ½ SE ¼ NW ¼ Sec 36, T47N, R16W: SW ¼; SE ¼ Sec 25, T47N, R16W: SW ¼ Copies of the revision application are available for public review at the Montrose County Courthouse, 300 Main Street, Nucla, CO 81424. Copies of the Division's “Proposed Decision and Findings of Compliance” are available at your County Clerk and Recorder’s office.
