PERMIT#: M-1983-159
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC
INSPECTION DATE:June 23,2022
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (Division) normal
monitoring program. A representative for the Operator was not present. Photographs are included with this report
in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed.
The Gleason Pit is located approximately 1.5 miles southeast of Redvale and accessed from 37 Road. The site is
a I l2c operation that includes a total of 39.81 permitted acres. The Division currently holds a financial warranty
amount of $30,965.00 for this site. The Division has reviewed the reclamation costs, in order to ensure; the
financial warranty reflects the actual current cost of fulfilling the requirements of the Reclamation Plan, and
determined that the current financial warranty amount is sufficient.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance to the site.
The affected area was marked by fencing that was clearly visible and adequate to delineate the affected area
boundary.
The site has been in Temporary Cessation since March 10, 2017. The initial 5 year Temporary Cessation
period allowed by Rule 1.13.8 (l) has expired. The Operator must now commence final reclamation of the
site, to be completed within 5 years pursuant to Rule 3.1.3. Alternatively, the Operator may file a request
for an extension of the Temporary Cessation period pursuant to Rule 1.13.8 (1)(b).
No evidence of any recent minim; activity was observed. Conditions at the site appear relatively unchanged from
the Division's last inspection, which took place on May 1, 2019. A scale and scalehouse are located near the site
entrance. Various equipment and refuse are stored in the area south of the scale. The existing highwalls were left
at random grades, from near vertical to 3H:1 V. A near vertical highwall exists on the south side of the access road
in the east side of the pit. Highwalls around the power poles are approximately 0.5H:IV. Except for a section of
0.51-1:1 V slope in the central part of the north pit wall, the west and north slopes are graded from 2H:1 V to 3H:1 V.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Dustin Czapla at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, 1313 Sherman Street Room 215, Denver, Colorado, 80203,phone number(303) 866-3567, ext. 8188.
