General Coal-Handlin - The coal discharges from slope -belt at the portals through a flop -gate that can be used to <br />divert low -quality coal to the Low -Quality Coal Conveyer. Based on a maximum anticipated raw coal production <br />tonnage of 13.OMM tpy, approximately 2.OMM tpy of low -quality coal will be diverted to the Low -Quality Coal <br />Conveyor, with the remaining I i .OMM tpy of Run -of -Mine (ROM) coal transferring to the ROM Coal Conveyor, <br />which carries to coal to the ROM Stacking Tube. Coal discharges through openings in the Stacking Tube to form <br />the ROM Coal Stockpile. Coal is reclaimed from the ROM Stockpile by a sub -grade reclaim system and <br />transferred to the elevated Crushing/Screening Building Feed Conveyor. The option exists that if downstream <br />portions of the coal -handling system are inoperable due to break -downs or maintenance, coal can be recovered from <br />the ROM Stockpile by x\heel-loader, loaded into trucks, and transferred by truck to the Batch -Weigh Coal <br />Stockpile for loading and shipment. The Crushing/Screening Feed Conveyor discharges to the Crushing/Screening <br />system where the coal passes through a series of double -deck screens which separate the coal stream into three size <br />fractions, an under -size fraction (-/" x 0"), which passes through and discharges directly to the Overland <br />Conveyor: an intermediate fraction (/" x 2"), which transfers to the Wasllplant Feed Conveyor, and the screen <br />oversize (+2"). �\hich discharges to a two-stage crushing circuit, with the crushed product transferring to the <br />Washplant Feed Conveyor. Bypass chute -work allows the intermediate and crushed products to be diverted <br />directly to the Overland Conveyor, if plant feed coal quality precludes the need for washing. <br />The Washplant Feed Conveyor transfers the intermediate and crushed coal products from the Crushing/Screening <br />Building to the Washplant 11 Building, where a series of screens, heavy -media cyclones, classifying cyclones, wash <br />screens, and centrifuges produce coarse and fine coal products, which are combined and discharge to the Overland <br />Conveyor. Coarse refuse from the wash process is drained and transferred by the Coal Refuse Conveyor to the <br />Refuse Bin, where it is loaded into trucks and hauled to the existing permitted Coal Refuse Disposal Area. The fine <br />refuse passes to the Thickener, which partially dewaters the refuse and then discharges the fine coal refuse slurry to <br />the existing Thickener Underflow Line. The Thickener Underflow Line carries the fine refuse slurry through an <br />existing borehole to an area of sealed underground mine workings for disposal. <br />The Overland Conveyor carries the coal product stream to the Belt -Out -Back (BOB) area, where it passes through <br />the Primary and Secondary Crusher and Sampling Buildings (direct pass-through w/equipment removed or <br />bypassed). A new Coal Sampling Station, to the west of Sedimentation Pond D, samples the product coal stream <br />on the Overland Conveyor. From the Sampling Building, the coal product stream can be routed to either the BOB <br />Coal Stockpile or the Batch -Weigh Coal Stockpile. Coal reclaimed from the BOB Stockpile is routed back through <br />the Sampling Building to the Batch -Weigh Coal Stockpile. From the Batch -Weigh Stockpile, coal can be <br />reclaimed by the Batch -Weigh Loadout Conveyor and/or the Truck Loadout Conveyor, allowing coal to be loaded <br />directly to either over -the -road trucks or unit trains for shipment. <br />Low -Quality Coal Handling — The Low -Quality Coal Conveyor discharges to a temporary pile, and the low -quality <br />coal is then moved by �N heel -loader to the Washplant I Grizzly Feeder. Coal is transferred from the Grizzly Feeder by <br />conveyor to the intermediate Washplant I Feed Stockpile. A sub -grade reclaim conveyor transfers the coal from this <br />stockpile to the Washplant I Building, where a series of screens, heavy -media cyclones, classifying cyclones, wash <br />screens, and centrifuges produce coarse and fine coal products. A portion of the washed coarse coal output <br />transfers by conveyor to the Stoker Coal Stockpile, where a Stoker Coal Loading Conveyor is used to load over - <br />the -road trucks. The remainder of the Washplant I clean coal output (both coarse and fine coal) can be routed to <br />either a small Clean -Coal Stockpile adjacent to the Washplant, or to the Overland Conveyor. Coarse and fine <br />refuse from Washplant i are handled in a manner similar to that previously described for Washplant II, with the <br />coarse refuse transferring by conveyor to a Refuse Bin for truck loading and haul to the Refuse Pile, and the fine <br />refuse passing through a Thickener, and then being discharged to the Thickener Underflow Line for disposal in an <br />area of sealed underground mine workings. <br />Historical Information (Superseded) - Two sites previously existed for storage of underground development waste: <br />under and adjacent to the waste rock conveyor belt and in the final -cut pit. Construction of the Washplant I, completed <br />in 1995. eliminated the need to dispose of low -quality coal and development waste in the pit or haul it to the refuse pile. <br />Instead, the Wasllplant allowed processing of these materials to recover the contained coal. The Washplant was <br />designed to produce a maximum of approximately 500,000 tons of clean coal per year during a normal operating <br />MR 16-300 2.05-87 06/21/16 <br />
