Five native soil map units were identified within the <br />proposed permit area during the course of conducting soil investigations (see Tab 9 and <br />Exhibit 9.1). The Buckley clay and Morepos silty clay loam }all under the Soil <br />Conservation Service (SCS) drylend capabi llty class LE. They ere suited to cultivation, <br />but have severe limitations that restrict crop selection and/or they require eere}ul <br />management practices due to suseepti bi lity to erosion. The unnamed silty clay falls under <br />the SCS drylend capability eleea 45. It has similar capabi litY to the Buckley end Morepoa <br />soils, but hoe limitations caused by ahellow rooting zones, stoni nest, low moisture <br />holding capacity, low fertility, or salinity or sodium. The SCS drylend capabi lity <br />classes for the Abor clay and Spieerton variant sre 7E and 6S, respectively. Class 7 <br />soils are unsuited to cultivation, but can be used for grazing, woodland, and wildlife <br />uses. Tha Abor clay ie sweeptible to erosion hazards. Class 6 soils ere generally <br />unsuited to cultivation and sre primsrily used for pasture, tango, woodland, wildli}e, <br />recreation or a combination of these. The Spieerton variant is restricted duo to shallow <br />rooting zones end other restrictions pravi oualy outlined for Subclass "S• soils. Mona of • <br />the soils are considered Priors Farmland soils. <br />Table G-2 summarizes agricultural lend ute productivity end capability (cropland, <br />rangeland) for the vegetation end eroplende found in and edjeeent to the permit area. <br />Local Land Uaa Plans <br />Routt County.
