Townsend Ave. Montrose, CO 81401 Re: Bowie No. 1 Mine (Permit No. C-1981-038) Permit Renewal Application No. 8 (RN-8) Dear Sir or Madam: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on September 6, 2022, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 1 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. Bowie Resources, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 3 miles North of Paonia. This renewal application does not propose revisions to the approved mining and reclamation plan, nor is there any proposed surface disturbance outside of the currently approved disturbance area. The permit area is further described as follows: In all or portions of the following: Sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, and 25 Township 13 South, Range 92 West of the 6th P.M. and Sections 17, 18, 19, 29, 30, 31, and 32 of Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map(s): Gray Reservoir, Bowie. This application requests a renewal o f the permit for the Bowie No. 1 Mine.
