Attached Exhibit C and F have been updated to included maps that are stamped and <br /> signed by the preparer. <br /> DRMS Comment 3: <br /> Exhibit D identifies that the depth of the pit will be 30-40 feet with a bench at 1 S feet and <br /> mined using traditional highwall mining techniques. Please identify the estimated length <br /> of highwall to be exposed at any given time. <br /> Applicant Response 3: <br /> Attached Exhibit D has been updated to reflect the estimated length of highwall to be <br /> exposed at any given time (775-Feet). <br /> DRMS Comment 4: <br /> Please identify the stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined in accordance <br /> with Rule 6.4.4(fi(ii) <br /> Applicant Response 4: <br /> The stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined is mapped as Bull Lake glacial <br /> outwash. These are alluvial deposits consisting of sand, gravel, cobbles, and occasional <br /> boulders located on an extensive outwash plain laid down during the melting of glaciers <br /> in the Collegiate Peaks highland located to the west. Clasts consist primarily of <br /> Precambrian granites and other hard, intrusive igneous rocks, but there are also some <br /> younger volcanics mixed into the alluvial deposit. <br /> DRMS Comment 5: <br /> The seed mix provided in the Permanent Seed Mix section is adequate however please <br /> provide the seeding rate in PLS/Acre of seed to be applied. Please also identify if any <br /> seed bed preparation method (discing, etc.) will be used, commit to a single seeding <br /> method and identify if mulch will be applied after seeding. ff mulch will be applied <br /> please provide the type and rate at which it will be used. <br /> Applicant Response 5: <br /> The reclamation plan states that the following permanent seed application rates should be <br /> applied: <br /> • Drill Seeding: 15 PLS/Acre <br /> • Broadcast Seeding: 25 PLS/acre <br /> • Hydroseeding: 35 PLS/Acre <br /> The first method of seeding will be Broadcast Seeding. The subgrade will be disced prior <br /> to seeding. The other seeding methods are listed and will be used in trouble areas if the <br /> broadcast seeding is not successful. The mulch that will be used will be straw applied at 2 <br /> tons per acre. Exhibit E has been updated and is attached. <br /> Thank-you for the opportunity to address these comments.
