The mounding and shadowing for the surrounding properties and wells is described in Table 3 below:
Table 3
Mininq Groundwater Level Table Slunry Walls In-Place
After Slurry Surface
Basement Wall Difference(FT Groundwater Depth Elevation
Location /n Baseline Construction Rise or Fall) Below Surface Goo le Earth Cell IJK
Patnd a House n 4736.5 4743.2 670 208 4764 161 135,1
Cline House n 47371 47448 770 21.2 4766 162 1321
Harding House y 1 47369 47457 880 193 4765 161 129,1
Wiedeman House
13434 n 47384 47469 8.50 211 4768 163,121,1
Wiedman House 13218 n 47386 47467 810 153 4762 163115,1
Sharpe House y 47385 4745.3 6.80 147 4760 163,111,1
HS Land and Cattle n 47327 4735.0 2.30 20 4755 155,107,1
Karbowski Brave House n 47257 47251 -0 60 269 4752 1451081
Schmidt Well NA 4714.6 4710.6 400 224 4733 132,112,1
United Well NA 47123 47070 -5 30 41 4748 132,126,1
Owens Well NA 47147 47128 -1 90 332 4746 132 133,1
Wright House y 47180 47133 467 387 4752 135,132,1
Schmidt House n 4719.2 4718.0 -1 22 3002 4748 135135,1
Smit House y 47196 47194 -0 20 286 4748 1351361
Kissler House y 4730.2 4734.2 4.00 208 4755 148 137,1
Woolverton House y 47314 47360 460 26 4762 150 1361
Shimon House 47336 4738.6 5.00 204 4759 154136,1
Kern House 7344 4739A 500 206 4760 156 1371
Rainbolt House y 4736.4 4742.3 590 227 4765 161,137,1
Gilcrest Valley HS NA 47378 47418 400 42 4746 170 1551
As noted in the table above, groundwater elevation impacts from the installation of the slurry walls will be highly spatially
variable. The southeast corner of the Site is expected to see the most amount of mounding, up to 8.5 feet above
baseline levels. However, the groundwater table in this area is very deep (from 27 to 30 feet deep), so flooding is not
expected to be an issue. Mounding decreases on the upgradient side from east to west, with the Sharp house on the
southwest corner of the Site potentially seeing 6.8 feet of mounding at full build out. Elevation from Google Earth for the
Sharp property is approximately 4760 feet which would put the potential groundwater rise at fifteen (14.7)feet below the
surface.
Potential shadow effects from the slurry wall are present north of the Site (downgradient). There are three(3)wells on
the north side of the Site which will be in the groundwater shadow and changes in depth to groundwater vary from two
(2)feet lower to over five (5)feet lower for the United well. The shadow effect is likely mitigated by the proximity of the
slough to the north of the Site and the infiltration ponds to the northeast of the Site. The modest shadow effect should
have limited effect on the productivity local alluvial wells.
The Town of Gilcrest is located between the Site and a rise in the bedrock elevation to the east which acts as a no flow
boundary. It is anticipated that slurry wall construction will restrict flow to the west of Town causing elevated
groundwater levels in Town as noted for"Gilcrest Valley HS"in the table above. See Figure 6 for groundwater contours.
Groundwater Model Report—Section 20 Gravel Mine Site -8- August 2022
