The weather was clear. The status of the Elk Creek Mine is "active"however no coal is being mined
and the only activity since the last inspection was site maintenance.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(I):
Records were available in the mine office, details are given at the end of this report.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
Workers with Gunnison Energy were installing a water pipe within the permit area, as described in the
Permit Application Packet(PAP). This activity is unrelated to mining or reclamation.
SUPPORT FACILITIES -Rule 4.04:
Maximizing the capture of methane from abandoned mine workings continues to be the subject of
investigation. The electricity generating and methane flaring facility at the upper Elk Creek facilities pad was not
operating at the time of the inspection.
Much of the upper pad is currently used for activities related to the methane facility.A pipe had been
installed to collect condensation from the southern-most of the methane burners. It's possible that this may be
routed to the existing water tank in the future. Some mining-related equipment continued to be stored on the pad.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
N/A
OTHER(SPECIFY)
N/A
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 5
