With further deterioration of <br /> the site blue grama, prairie. junegrass, sun sedge, <br /> bottlebrush squirreltail, and Sandberg bluegrass will <br /> disappear and be replaced by red threeawn and sand <br /> dropseed. These grasses, with continued destructive <br /> grazing, will be invaded by sleepy grass, ring mutely, <br /> buffalo grass, and cheatgrass. The forb and shrub <br /> species which will, at first signs of regression <br /> increase and under further deterioration decrease are <br /> Drummond milkvetch, western ragweed and dotted <br /> i gayfeather. Continued ecological regression will cause <br /> plants such as wormwood, hairy goldaster, plains <br /> pricklypear, broom snakeweed small soapweed, gray <br /> horsebrush, pinque hymenoxys gamble oak, oneseeded <br /> juniper Rocky Mountain juniper, .pinyon pine, tall <br /> rabbitbrush, and New Mexico locust to dominate the site. <br />
