i <br />i- <br />'~-- 2. Construction Activities <br />a. Care shall be exercised to avoid injury to green concrete from <br />vibration created by blasting and pile driving operations or <br />movement of equipment in the vicinity of the structure, encl <br />the disturbance of the formwork or protruding reinforcement. <br />i b. Concrete shall be protected from the heat of an open fire. ~?, <br />watchman shall be provided •at the structure throughout any <br />period in which open-Flame heaters are operated in the vicinity <br />•- of concrete, particularly concrete from which combustible: <br />formwork has not been removed. <br />r. c. After the concrete in finished surfaces has begun to set, it <br />shall not be walked upon or otherwise disturbed for a minimum <br />~ of 24 hours. <br />(~' K. Exposed Surfaces -Waterproofing <br />1. All exposed concrete surfaces below final grade shall be waterproofed <br />r with two (2) coats of an approved bituminous waterproofing compound <br />L mopped on a clean dry surface. <br />2. Waterproofing shall not be splashed on any surfaces which wi71 be: <br />I' above grade. <br />V <br />3. Application shall conform strictly to the manufacturer's instructions. <br />~_ 3.03 Field Quality Control <br />A. General <br />Testing of the concrete shall be performed by an approved Certified Testin@; <br />Laboratory. The Contractor will be responsible for the cost of all concrete: <br />I` tests and shall include the cost of concrete testing in his unit price for cast•- <br />in-place concrete. The Engineer will be provided with five (5) copies of al'i <br />test reports promptly after the results are determined. <br />1 B. Strength Tests <br />1. One set of six standard cylinders for test purposes will be taken from <br />L_ each 50 cubic yards or fraction thereof, or each day's pour, whichever <br />is less. <br />L 2. Test specimens will be made in accordance with ASTM C31 and will <br />be tested in accordance with ASTM C39. <br />L 3.
